Laura Green, MD

Laura K. Green, MD, is an Assistant Dean of Students at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Vice Chair for Faculty Development at the Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore where she previously served as the Residency Program Director from 2010-24. She graduated from William and Mary, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and Harvard/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She then completed a cornea fellowship at Wilmer, and has been on the faculty of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore since 2007. Her research interests include simulation for medical and surgical training, medical education, and health equity.

Laura K. Green, MD,  received the 2022 Straatsma Award, and is the first ophthalmologist to become a member of the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators of the American College of Surgeons. She has held numerous national leadership positions in academic ophthalmology having been the President of the PDC, Chair of the ACGME Ophthalmology Review Committee, and Chair of the AAO Committee for Resident Education. She led the major revisions of the Ophthalmology Program Requirements that will be in effect July 1, 2026.

She is the Chair of the ACGME Council of Review Committee Chairs, which is a voting position on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of ACGME. She is a trustee -at-Large of the Board of the AAO, and former Associate Secretary for State Affairs of AAO.
